About Harp & Sling
Harp & Sling is a storytelling-first creative agency that helps brands cut through mediocrity through cinematic video, photography, and strategic storytelling campaigns. We serve industries where trust, people, and real-world impact matter—construction, engineering, architecture, design, nonprofits, and thought leadership.
We don’t just “shoot content.”
We lead stories—from strategy to execution—capturing people, projects, and purpose with clarity, excellence, and heart.
As we scale our Storytelling Team model, we’re looking for a Senior Storyteller—a seasoned visual leader who can own projects, lead teams, and deliver consistently excellent work in demanding environments.
About The Role
The Senior Storyteller is a hands-on creative leader responsible for planning, capturing, and delivering high-quality video and photography projects. This role blends cinematic craft, storytelling instinct, leadership, and executional grit.
You are not just a shooter or editor—you are a story leader. You know how to extract meaningful narratives from real people, direct a shoot with confidence, manage a crew, and deliver polished work that aligns with strategy and client goals.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Story Leadership & Creative Execution
- Lead end-to-end video projects: planning, filming, editing, and delivery
- Direct interviews, b-roll, and narrative moments with strong story intuition
- Capture cinematic visuals that elevate brands and humanize work
- Ensure all content aligns with campaign goals and storytelling frameworks
Production Leadership
- Lead and manage small production teams on set
- Confidently run full-day shoots in active, sometimes strenuous environments (jobsites, facilities, events)
- Coordinate with Account Managers and internal teams for clarity and execution
- Maintain creative authority while collaborating effectively
Technical Excellence
- Operate cinema-grade cameras confidently (Canon C70, RED, Blackmagic, etc.)
- Manage audio, lighting, stabilization, and production workflows
- Edit using professional software (Premiere Pro, Final Cut Pro, DaVinci Resolve)
- Maintain, transport, and manage video + photo equipment responsibly
Client & Team Communication
- Communicate clearly and professionally with clients on set
- Read the room—demonstrating high emotional intelligence and situational awareness
- Translate creative direction into actionable guidance for team members
- Serve as a calm, confident presence during high-pressure shoots
required skills and experience
Creative Experience
- 3–4+ years of professional experience in video production and photography
- Proven experience managing and executing professional video shoots
- Strong portfolio demonstrating storytelling depth, not just visuals
Technical Proficiency
- Hands-on experience with cinema cameras (Canon, RED, Blackmagic, etc.)
- Strong working knowledge of professional editing workflows
- Comfortable owning a project from capture through final delivery
Leadership & Autonomy
- Natural leader with experience leading crews or creative teams
- High autonomy—able to take ownership without hand-holding
- Proactive, solutions-oriented, and highly driven
- Comfortable making decisions in the field
Physical & Environmental Requirements
- Ability to film full days in physically demanding conditions
- Comfortable working outdoors, on jobsites, or in unpredictable environments
- Able to lift, carry, and manage professional production equipment
Who You Are (and this matters)
You are:
- A go-getter with exceptional work ethic
- Calm under pressure, confident on set
- Story-driven, not just gear-driven
- A creative who can also execute with discipline
- Someone who takes pride in craft and ownership
You don’t wait to be told what to do—you see what needs to be done and do it well.
